| I'm tired, I'm stressed, I'm frustrated, and I'm just downright down. Work has been drowning me, but is about to come to a screeching halt when this deal closes, which is a whole nother worry. But never fear. Our new shining beacon of hope President will make it all better. Right? Wrong. There's always that comment I hear--it doesn't impact me. Today, the stimulus package directly impacted me. There's a little provision in there allowing those who were fired after September 1, 2008 to opt for COBRA benefits again, even if they turned them down the first time, and for them to be partially paid for by the employer, partially by the US taxpayer. How to notify these people, the government asks. Simple we'll make the companies that fired them legally required to TELL them of this new law. So far, I'm just annoyed the government is increasing handouts and making small businesses play HR department for them. Here's where it gets fun. The stimulus package was drafted hastily, none of the necessary business considerations were included in the law. Our client is selling their company. In a few weeks, our client's benefits package will be terminated, and our client's employees will be clients of the new guy. There's nothing clarifying who is now going to have to pay the costs and be responsible for these "reactivated" COBRA people. We're scrambling to find how many that may be, how much those benefits may cost, if our client is going to have to keep paying for a benefits plan with no employees in it just in case one of these previously terminated people decide they want the benefits (and they have a 60 FREAKING day window to do so), if we have to negotiate a new term into the stock purchase agreement for this... it's a mess. It's costing our client big money to figure it out, and may cost big money to implement it. And it's causing me a lot of headache and stress on top of what I'm already dealing with. Thanks, Obama. Thanks. end rant | | |

| Home inspection went awesome. I told Dyl I'm glad they didn't find any ninjas. He pointed out they wouldn't be able to find the ninjas anyway. There's a couple of places with minor termite damage, so the seller is going to pay for the fumigation. A touch of old water damage to a corner, but nothing continuous and easy to prevent in the future. A crack in a fence, a few dated appliances, and your usual items that need maintenance in a house over 30 years old. We stayed for the entire home inspection, the inspector showing us anything and everything we wanted to know about the house, and more importantly taught us lots of things we should want to know. He finished telling us the trouble spots, and we were like....that's it? Really? AWESOME. Next up: appraiser's report. Hopefully the bank thinks the house is worth as much as we do. We have no part in the appraising, that's all the bank. All that we have left to do is get the down payment together and in escrow. Things are going smoothly. I'm excited and terrified all at once. Dyl is handling this his own way. cvstg njy vbb That was Dylan trying to type with his foot. He's drunk.

| WE GOT IT!!!!!! 4 bed, 3 bath, 2500 sq ft, 7000 sq ft lot, 3 car garage, pool and jacuzzi with waterfall, gas firepit and gas bbq, vaulted ceilings, built in bar (as in full on cheers style with the brass bar footrest and hanging glasses), 2 story, extra wide staircase, across the street from a little park, plenty of neighborhood parking, 10 minutes from work, still fairly close to the beach, the awesomeness goes on and on. There are things about the house that need work too (pink tiled bathrooms) but they're all just cosmetic changes. Assuming escrow goes well, in 45 days we will close, and Dyl and I will be homeowners. I think a 4th of July party may be mandatory. w00t | | |
